The Hearth is a fan-made World of Warcraft: Forever app for r/wowforever. It runs as a post inside Reddit. Demonly LLC (“we”) builds and runs it. This page says what the app stores, why, how long we keep it, and how to delete it.
Summary
If you don’t turn on alerts, we store nothing about you. If you do, we store your alert choices and a short-lived count of alerts sent to you. Turning alerts off deletes your choices right away, and the counts expire on their own within 9 days.
Alerts aren’t switched on yet while we wait for Reddit to approve them. The sections below describe how they will work once they are.
What we collect
If you only read the post, we keep no record of you. We don’t use cookies, analytics, ad identifiers, or tracking of what you view or tap.
When you open the post, Reddit tells the app your username and user ID so it can show you the right alert settings. We use them for that request and don’t save them. The one exception: if you turn on alerts, your user ID is the key your alert record is saved under.
Alerts
If you turn on alerts, we save one small record under your Reddit user ID (the t2_… ID Reddit gives apps). It holds three numbers:

You pick an afternoon, evening, or late evening window in your local time. Each one is five hours long. The app works out the matching UTC hour on your device and sends us that hour, not your time zone.
We send at most 2 alerts a day and 3 a week. To enforce that, we keep a count of alerts sent to each user ID. The daily count deletes itself after 2 days, and the weekly count about 9 days after the last alert that week. The counts don’t say which alerts they were.
We don’t store your username, location, IP address, device details, email address, or anything you type.
Whether you are signed up for notifications at all is kept by Reddit. The app asks Reddit each time you open the post and doesn’t keep a copy. Reddit also delivers the alerts; we tell it which users should get each one. Reddit’s Privacy Policy covers that part.
How we use it
We use your record only to decide whether to send you a given alert. We don’t sell or share it, build profiles from it, or use it for ads. The Hearth has no ads and never will.
How long we keep it
- If you turn alerts off, we delete your record right away.
- If you stop opening the post, your record deletes itself 30 days after your last visit. Only your visits reset that clock. Sending you an alert doesn’t.
- If you delete your Reddit account, you can no longer open the post, so your record deletes itself 30 days after your last visit.
We don’t keep backups or other copies of these records.
Your choices
To turn alerts off, tap the bell, then “Turn Off Notifications”. There is no confirmation step, and your record is deleted at once. You can change the alert types and your window in the same panel. The rest of the app works the same with alerts on or off.
Logs
The app writes basic logs on Reddit’s platform so we can fix problems: errors, how long requests took, and short error reports from the app itself. We don’t write your username or user ID into them. Moderators can turn on more detailed request logs, which switch off after 30 minutes and also leave out who you are.
Where the feeds come from
The Hearth shows Blizzard’s forum posts, Blizzard News articles, and what the game’s developers post publicly on X. The app’s server, which runs on Reddit, gets these from Demonly’s servers, along with the authors’ profile pictures and the article pictures. Your device doesn’t contact our servers, and those requests carry nothing about you. When a feed changes, the server sends open posts a short message over Reddit’s realtime channel with the time and which feed changed.
When the app’s server or anyone else requests data from our servers, we log the IP address, the path requested, and the time. We use those logs to stop abuse and keep things running, and nothing else. They have no set retention period. For The Hearth those requests come from Reddit’s servers, so the address in our logs is Reddit’s, not yours. Our servers sit behind Cloudflare, which also handles requests under its own privacy policy.
Children
The Hearth isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. Reddit requires users to be at least 13.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll update the date at the top.
